April 10-12, 2009 Visit Open Cabin, Start Planting Trees
On this visit, I prepared the cabin for this year’s visits, including checking the solar equipment, transferring the spring to the storage tank.
After this, I planted 300 of the 2050 White Swamp Oak, Sycamore, and Red Maple seedlings in the CRP area.
The pond is now full. Several pairs of Canada geese and one Killdear have taken up residence and are very protective of their nests. I also encountered a female turkey nesting near the Black Oak swamp.
Spring wildflowers are abundant including bluebells, spring beauties, purple trilium, flox.
