July 9 – 11, 2006 Visit

The only problem on this trip is that the solar charge controller seems to have failed and the batteries were charged up to 19 volts. Not good for the batteries and the inverter shuts off at 15 volts. So, too much voltage means no electricity.I disconnected one battery and connected my 12 volt air compressor to the remaining battery and ran this until the voltage came down and the inverter started.

I think the charge controller may have overheated. I will need to improve the ventilation and cover the black roof of the enclosure with white roofing.

I also changed the water connections on the spring box to use the lower outlet. I think this will increase the water flow. The storage tank has about 200 gallons, at this point, but no new water is entering the tank.

I also added two vents to the springbox cover to improve the air flow and I added angle iron reinforcement to the corners to discourage the chewing critters.
